Volume 41 Number 5 Dear Friends, Sight has been on my mind lately as many of you may know. For those who don’t know my sight for the last two months has been not as it should be and therefore I am having treatment to restore it, but back to sight.
How is our sight in Christian terms? In the year to come are we seeing what Christ wants of us? Is it clear or somewhat blurred and confused? Are the colours distinct and clear or are the messages of Christ fusing into one another? Are we wishing we had more foresight to see God’s will for us in the future or regretting in hindsight things of 2009?
How do we see Jesus?
Surely what we should be looking for in following Christ in 2010 is not foresight, although that might have its dvantages, not hindsight, although if we use our lessons from hindsight to benefit our future Christian behaviour that could be valuable, but insight. We need to know more deeply, to understand more clearly about Christ and his will for us as another decade begins.
So how do we do this? We need to take time to meditate, pray, consult our Bibles, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit see where Christ is leading us. We need to get rid of all that blurs, that discolours the message of Christ, so that there is no fumbling in the darkness but a walking confidently in the light.
As I seek advice and help from those who know to make clear my own sight, let us all be resolute this year in making Christ’s will not only clear to ourselves but also to others. Let us dwell in the Holy Sprit so that this may happen because he knows what we need.
Paul says ‘Now we see in a mirror darkly’ ‘Now we understand in part’. Let us look forward to rejoicing when we see ‘face to face,’ when we ‘understand fully even as we have been fully understood.’ Then we shall really see and know. Walk into this new decade in His light. May God richly bless you. Graham
