| March 1959 | THE HIGHWAY TO HAPPINESS | The Sydenham and Forest Hill circuit held a YOUTH WEEKEND - The weekend kicked off with a Dinner, chaired by Miss Geraldine Cannon from Westow Methodist. The speakers were Bram Sharpe the president of MAYC in 1957/8, and Rev Gordon Moody Secretary of Churches Council on Gambling. On Satu' teas were served at Upper Norwood Methodiat Church and a Carnival Dance at West Norwood Brotherhood Hall with dancing to Jack Amlot and his Orchestra. The Grand Finale to the weekend was on Sunday with a Parade Service in the morning, Youth Forum chaired by Rev Gorday were football, netball and tennis matches, held at various venues and Dinghy Sailing arranged by The Croydon Sailing Club. Visiting Teamsrdon Moody in the afternoon followed by a tea and a Youth Service at 6:30. Youth Congress was held at 8:20pm with the closeof the weekend at 9:30 followed by refreshments. |
